In this event hosted by the Korea Hanbok Promotion Agency, 38 companies in the traditional cultural industry in the province participate, displaying works of traditional clothing, woodcraft, pottery craft, and metal craft.
In particular, Sobaeksan Natural Dyeing Association and Hamso Agricultural Corporation, which have been working together in the 'traditional clothing industry revitalization support project' that Gyeongbuk-do has been promoting for the second year since the opening of the Korea Hanbok Promotion Institute to foster the hanbok industry and revitalize the traditional textile industry, share business results. and hold various events such as live commerce and business briefings.
In addition, Kim Jae-chul, chairman of the Gyeongsangbuk-do Happy Crafts Cooperative, said, “A variety of craft culture products were exhibited with about 250 exhibits by collecting the works of traditional craftsmen from 17 cities and counties who have dug only one well for decades in the province.”
The Hamchang Heo family silk family local root company participating in this exhibition became a hot topic. Heo Dam (35 years old), the 6th generation of weaving silk, continues the tradition. Heo Ho (63 years old), the 5th generation (succession) representative of Heossi silk family local root company, said, “While working at Mungyeong City Hall as a civil servant, Heo Dam visited Tomioka Silk Mill, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Japan. I decided to carry on the vein of our tradition, finished my public service life, and am currently learning the traditional silk technology of a family company.”
