At the 2018 Gyeongbuk Art Festival held at the Yecheon-gun Cultural Center on the 5th, Heo Ho, CEO of Heosi Silk Textile, won the Gyeongsangbuk-do Culture Award (culture category).

The Gyeongsangbuk-do Culture Award is an award given to those who have contributed to the creative development of local culture and arts. Since its establishment in 1956, it has been awarded every year.

CEO Heo Ho is a master craftsman of Hamchang silk, who has succeeded in weaving silk, which has been passed down from generation to generation in Hamchang-eup, Sangju-si. Since the late 1990s, he has used traditional silk weaving tools collected from all over the country as a material for cultural experience tourism to transform the silk industry into a culture. He was highly praised for his achievement in sublimation.

From the early 2000s to the present, CEO Huh has been conducting traditional silk weaving experience and tourism programs for domestic and foreign residents, and has donated about 40 items related to sericulture and silk weaving, hand-quilted scrolls, persimmon dyed silk clothes, and hanbok. He contributed to the establishment of the Hamchang Silk Museum. In addition, the 2010 International Slow City Headquarters inspection team visit event contributed to the designation of Sangju as a slow city, the 2013 Korea Silk Road Expedition site visit, the 2014 Hamchang Village Art Project, and the creation of a silk art village. While making efforts, he has also taken the lead in practicing love for the community, such as the Godongram Scholarship Association and donations to various underprivileged neighbors.

On the other hand, CEO Heo Ho was also selected as the best artisan of Gyeongsangbuk-do (textile processing field) by Gyeongsangbuk-do in 2013, and a celebrity of 'Cultural Travel with Local Celebrities' selected by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Korea Tourism Organization in 2018.

Sangju Mayor Hwang Cheon-mo said, “Congratulations to CEO Heo Ho for winning the Culture Award for contributing to the culture and tourism industry of the Hamchang silk industry, one of the pillars of Sangju, the home of three whites.” As it is a region where silk is produced and distributed, we expect that we will work together to revitalize silk weaving and Hanbok cultural tourism in connection with the Korea Hanbok Promotion Institute and the Korean-Culture Belt in Gyeongsangbuk-do."
