At the ‘2016 Gyeongsangbuk-do Village Story Fair’, Sangju Hamchang Myeongju Art Village won the grand prize. 

At the ‘2016 Gyeongsangbuk-do Village Story Fair’ hosted by Gyeongsangbuk-do and Andong-si, Sangju-si Hamchang Myeongju Art Village won the grand prize and received the Minister of Government Administration and Home Affairs Award.

This fair, held at the Andong Gymnasium from the 6th to the 8th, discovers the hidden stories of 23 cities, counties and villages in Gyeongbuk-do, develops village-themed tourism products, promotes the revitalization of the local economy, and promotes various villages of Gyeongbuk with outstanding historical value. It was designed to preserve and promote culture as a valuable cultural heritage.

Hamchang Silk Art Village (CEO Heo Ho) participates as a representative village in Sangju-si with the story that Hamchang, the largest silk producer in Korea that produces silk, a natural fiber, in the traditional way, has been reborn as an art village through the Village Art Project. It was the most popular and stood out the most among the participating villages, winning the grand prize.
