Heo Ho, CEO of Silk Textiles, who is continuing the life of resident Hamchang Myeongju, received the 'Korea Culture and Arts Award' at the '2021 Culture and Arts Development Merit' ceremony held at the National Theater in Seoul on the 22nd.

The Korean Culture and Arts Award is a presidential commendation given every year by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to those who have made outstanding achievements in the development of culture and arts since 1969.

CEO Heo was recognized for his contributions to tourism and industrialization of his traditional silk weaving and grafting it with art to widely publicize it at home and abroad. He donated the entire prize money of 10 million won from the Culture and Arts Award to the 'Go Dong-ram Scholarship Society' in Hamchang.

In Hamchang-eup, Sangju-si, he has been producing traditional silk fabric with silkworm cocoon threads for over 40 years. It holds 9 patents and 2 utility model patents related to silk weaving and natural dyeing of persimmon. He was also selected as 'Gyeongsangbuk-do Best Craftsman' in 2013, 'Gyeongsangbuk-do Local Rooted Company', and 'Excellent Skilled Technician (Textile Processing Field)' in 2019.

Since 2018, it has become a celebrity of 'Cultural Travel with Local Celebrities' and is widely publicizing the excellence of traditional silk weaving at domestic and international events.
